We will never fully understand God’s ways because they are far greater than
ours. When we truly know God, we can trust that He is good, wise, and in
complete control, even when we don’t understand what’s happening. Questioning
God’s goodness, love, power, or wisdom shows we do not truly know Him, and it
is a sign of spiritual immaturity. If we doubt Him, we should examine how well
we know and trust Him.
When we feel anxious about the future, it is often because we focus on our own weaknesses and limits. But God has no limits—He knows exactly what to do and is fully able to do it (Ps. 115:3 …our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.
If we shift our focus from ourselves to God, our Father, anxiety will fade.
He promises never to abandon us (Heb. 13:5). By faith, we can leave the matter
in His hands and stop worrying. If we still worry, it means our eyes are on
ourselves rather than on God (Mt. 14:30).
For example, if we are sick and unsure whether we
will be healed, we may know Jesus can heal but not if He will in our case.
Faith means leaving the decision to Him, trusting He knows best. This was the
attitude of the three Hebrew men in Daniel 3:16–18. They knew God could save
them from the fire, but even if He didn’t, they trusted Him completely. That
trust removed their fear and gave them boldness.
When we cannot know the outcome or when things turn out differently from what we hoped, faith helps us overcome doubt. We have no right to blame God or question His character. God always knows best and has the power to do what He wants. Since He proved His love by giving His Son for us, we must never doubt His goodness or promises. Sadly, many people think of God as if He were like them (Ps. 50:21), and that leads to wrong thoughts about Him.
